Gujarat Skill Development Mission  is a body under the chairmanship of Hon’ble CM of Gujarat  to act as the apex body for monitoring, coordination, convergence and providing overall policy direction for all kinds of skill development activities in Gujarat. After due deliberation the mission has come up with following two initiatives :

1. GSDM portal , which aims at "Convergence and Dissemination of Information"
2. Skill Voucher scheme,  which aims at "Convergence and Simplification of Process"

The web-portal is a truly one stop information portal for all kinds of skill realted information in Gujarat. It covers all kinds of courses or skills ie Phd's, masters, graduation, ploytechnic, ITI, short term, diploma, private courses etc. It is beneficial to candidates , institutes, employers, placement agencies, labour contractors, job providers, self employed persons and even to a common citizen!!! Following are the details:

1. Candidates: Provides  complete courses list  and the institute list of the state ranked in order of their placement percentage (which can be verified by anyone by drilling down and looking at the scanned copy of the employment letters of the candidates) thereby helping them to choose correct course and institute. 2. Institutes: Free platform to participate in statewide objective ranking system thereby improving their visibility and also get access to skill voucher
3. Industry: Acts as Online job portal and provides direct access to contact details of institutes and mobile numbers of the candidates. Details...
4. Placement agencies / Labour contractors/ Job providers:  Provides the contact details of possibily every skilled/ trained person of the state at one place. Assessment-cum- Placement agencies can also start assessment-certifcation-placement services thereby giving already employed persons chances for better placement at the same time the industry also get access to experienced manpower in addition to the freshers. 5. Self employed person: They get added automatically to Online directory of skilled manpower or Yellow pages of Gujarat thereby helping them to get more business. Not only the new freshers but even experienced  persons with or without any formal training can also be added to the yellow pages by the institutes. So virtually each and every skilled person has a chance to get the benefit of the yellow pages or online directory.
6. Common Citizen : Gives access to mobile numbers of skilled persons e.g. plumbers, electricians, beauticians, tailors, masons, auto-mechanics etc through online directory.  This is basically free and open Yellow Pages for Gujarat covering possibily each and every skilled person of the state.
